Overview

The Gerber LMF II is a military grade survival knife with several key features that make it not only unique but an excellent tool to have when you are fending for yourself.  The knife comes with a rugged low-profile sheath with a built in knife sharpener.  The sheath makes it easy to carry on your persona and the knife sharpener is an indispensable tool to have after you have been using your knife on tough surfaces.  The knife generally comes in two colors. Knife Specifications

The knife is actually a relatively big knife measuring at 10.59'' including the handle.  The blade is only about 4.84'' but it's thick and wait till you see what it can do in the videos below.  It weighs about 11 oz which makes it on the heavy side, but for what it can do you would expect this knife to be the size of a nuclear warhead.  All of these knifes come with a drop point half-serrated edge/half straight edge blade (combo) that is made of 420HC Stainless steel.  The handle is made of an extremely sturdy Glass-filled nylon with TPV overmold.  It is an absolute joy to hold as it feels extremely natural to grip and is proportioned well so that it can fit any size hand.  You should have no slippage problems with the blade when hacking at anything and that even applies to situations where the blade might be wet.  The bottom of the knife comes to a pointed edge that was designed to be used to break glass.  The knife was designed with aviation piots in mind in case they had to exit the aircraft in an emergency and need to cut their way out.  There is a video below that highlights this. The sheath is extremely well made from a durable nylon material. It has a pair of Velcro straps to protect the handle securely into place.  The LMF II snaps into the sheath easily and stays there even under some pretty violent movements. The snap locking mechanism also allows for easy discharge so it doesn't take much effort to remove the blade. It also comes with two belt buckle leg straps, it can also be attached to Tactical vests and belt buckles as well.

Testing the Knife

Below are some videos on Gerber Knives such as the LMF II military grade knife.  As you can see they really have no mercy on this knife.  In the following videos you will see the knife cut through an aircraft, chop wood, chop rock, and hammer rock.  I was impressed by toughness of the knife after having watched this video.  Now, most people don't abuse their knives like the ones in the videos below, but it sure is good to know that the LMF II can survive anything short of Apocalypse.

Watch how they hammer right through concrete with their Gerber Knife point and nothing happens to the knife. The rock? Yeah it didn't make it quite like the knife did.  It wasn't fending for itself very well.

I am kinda split on the poor treatment of this Gerber Knife.  I mean, on one end I am glad to learn that this knife is almost indestructible and that if I really need to tear something apart with my knife I can most likely do it and I don't have to worry about the knife falling apart on me if I swing it too hard or too many times.  The other side of me cringes when I see the blade go through that much punishment.  I began this video in terror about how these Gerber Knives were being abused.  By the end of it was starting to learn how durable the knives are and was hoping that I have one with me when I need it the most.

In conclusion the LMF II is a nice addition to the suite of Gerber Knives.  This is a military grade knife that is extremely durable and has many functions.  It is extremely portable and easy to travel with.  When it comes down to having one survival knife then this is a great one to pick up and you get more then your moneys worth considering the price and the utility.

The Silver Trident is a Gerber Knife that is used by special operation forces of the United States Armed Forces.  What differentiates the Silver Trident from other knives is it's unique handle.  It was specially crafted by Gerber to be heat resistant, UV resistant and chemical resistant.  The handle is a co-mold of two versions of the material called Hytrel®. Inside, there's a rock-hard version for strength. Outside, there's the soft, textured version for extreme grip control. Use the stainless steel butt cap as a hammer The double-edged clip point blade is 154C stainless steel, heat-treated to achieve a hardness rating of HRC 59-61. You get excellent edge retention, strength and flexibility. The non-reflective black blade limits glare and corrosion.  The center of balance on the knife is just behind the hand guard so the knife balances on holders first finger when held in a fighting grip. The pommel is solid and the handle is comfortable and nonslip.

The great part about Gerber's Silver Trident is that it has all the bells and whistles that a knife should have. These include the advanced handle, excellent blade strength and the double serrated edge.  The hand guard just above the handle feels comforatble in your hand even with padded gloves on.  The hand guard provides an added level of security while handling the knife and this allows you to use the knife with better comfort. Below is a video of the Gerber Silver Trident knife taht I found on youtube.com.  I apologize that the explanation is not in English, however you can get a nice idea of what the knife looks like and how well it fits in your hand.  The video shows the knife within the sheath and then is removed to show all angles of the knife.  It is then placed back in the sheath and the video is over.  There are not many videos on the Internet for the Gerber Silver Trident, but it is one of the most advaced Gerber Knives on the market.  Gerber makes this knife for people who defend our nation.  That's saying alot about the Silver Trident.

Overall the knife's length is 8.25" weighs in at 4.1 oz. The blade itself is 3.25" long, and the edge is shaped for skinning. The blade is shaped into a gut hook allowing quick "zippering" of the fish, birds, or other small to medium-sized game without puncturing the internals. The rest of the dorsal part of the blade is clean, wide, and flat, allowing you to apply pressure with your thumb or forefinger as required when cutting/skinning. In conclusion the Gerber Freeman Knife does have some flaws to it regards to the handle to the knife and some workings of the knife blade.  All in all however it is great knife to have in the field with you because it is sturdy, easy to maintain and comes with a gut hook for after the game has been hunted.  There are a few Freeman models to choose from inclusing gut hook, fixed blade, folding blade, and even an interchangable blade.

All in all the Gerber Armor Tanto Knife is a one of a kind Gerber Knife.  Some of the special features of the knife are it's comfortable handle, the ease at which t opens and closes, the safety features, and the toughness of the knife blade and blade edge.  The non-reflective blade makes this knife more stealth and not as easily detected.  One of the other key features of the Gerber Tanto Knife is the price.  There are a lot of knives out there and some of them are priced much higher than they are actually worth.  The Gerber Tanto Armor Knife combines the greatness of a high end knife at the price of an everyday knife. Aside from how sexy the Paraframe II knife looks the main feature of this gerber knife is the blade and the locking mechanism.  It's a folding knife and one of the major drawbacks that a folding knife must overcome in order to compete with a fixed blade knife is it's sturdiness.  A folding knife is measured by the knife blades inability to bend even under extreme pressure.  A knife blade should be strong and reliable and a because folding knives are weaker than their fixed blade counterparts it is important that a folding knife lock well and be extremely sturdy.  You will find that the locking technology for the Paraframe II is extremely advanced and even more impressive for such a lightweight knife.  The knife comes in eight different varieties and comes in a silver steel type color and a charcoal gray color.

The clip point blade is extremely easy to open and you will find that the metal is extremely durable.  Ease of use is one of the paraframes key features and one of the best examples of achieving ease of use that Gerber display in its gerber knives.  The handle on the Paraframe II has a lot of negative space and therefore makes the knife extremely light.  Do not be fooled though, the knife handle is extremely sturdy and fits securely in your hand without any feeling that it might slip out.  The handle also has a small groove for the index finger and this allows you to get an even better grip on the knife.  It doesn't come with any type of finger guards, however the groove for the index finger it probably all you will need when using this knife because the clip point blade is extremely sharp.

There have been come complaints about the knife having rust on it after much use, but it is unclear whether or not this is due to the lack of maintenance on the knife or not.  There also have been some complaints about the knife durablility, however we did not find any issues with this knife given it's proce range and as compared to other comparable knives on the market. It's just another way to fend for yourself.

The Gerber Multi-Plier 800 Legend is one of the most convenient and advanced multi-tools that you can find on the market.  Gerber invested heavily into the advanced technologies into this tool in order to make it small, lightweight, but yet useful and durable.  The tool offers one handed opening of the knife blade.  You can also access all of the blades without having to open the tool.  The knife blades are standard for a tool of this caliber and prices range.  There are several screwdrivers on this tool including the standard flat head and phillips head screwdriver.  The selection of blades is adequate but this tool does not include a full serrated edge blade.  The fine edge blade might be a little too fine.  It also includes a saw edge that is useful for small jobs and serves it's purpose on the tool for it's utility and convenience.  The tool does not offer a ruler, which is common among other multi-tools, but we can overlook that feature even though find it extremely useful at times.  The jaws on the pliers have ample room to open, however there have been some complaints about the jaws not opening wide enough.  There has to be some sacrifice in order to make such a compact and convenient tool.

The handle on the Gerber Multi-Tool 800 Legend is a masterpiece.  It is made of stellar stainless steel and contoured aluminum.  The handle also has tactile rubber inserts that insure your steady grip.  These are the primary elements of what is generally considered to be the ultimate expression of the Gerber Multi-Tool. Being versatile wasn't enough for the guys who designed these tools.  They worked hard to deliver a level of ergonomics and comfort that is rarely, if ever, seen. The pliers are spring-loaded, as you'd expect. The ballistic nylon sheath is included, which is no surprise. However the tungsten carbide wire cutting blades are replaceable, which you might not expect.

The Gerber Multi-Pliers 800 Legend is an advanced tool with many different features.  It boats several knife blades, multiple screwdrivers, a saw and many other tools.  It provides one handed opening and a sturdy pair of pliers to go along with that.  The metals are all stainless steel and are high quality to ensure that there is no rust and/or wear while rubbing against other metals.  The handle also boats an ergonomic design as well as rubber inserts that allow you to have a secure confident grip on your tool.  The Legend 800 is like no other multi-tool on the market.  Gerber has made superb advancements in the multi-tool that separate it from the other other tools.  Is this the best multi-tool money can buy.  Yes!  Well, at least we think so.
