Overview
The Gerber Freeman Folding Knife manufactured by Gerber Legendary Knives is one of the finest and classic looking Gerber Knives one can own. It comes in a variety of blade types including fixed, folding, gut hook, and even an interchangeable blade system that is the top of the line in this category. The Freeman knife is named after a Gerber knife craftsman named Jeff Freeman. His craftsmanship on the knife and it's design and functionality gave him the prestigious honor of having this knife named after him. The knife comes in a charcoal gray knife and a pear wood handle that fits nicely in your hands grips. It has won several distinctions for it's design, utility, and strength. The classic hunter look makes it a popular knife to own and distinguishable from other Gerber Knives that exist.
The blade and tang are made of AUS-8 steel and comparable to US-made 440B - a mid-level stainless alloy. The steel is very powerful allowing this knife to hold it's edge incredibly well. Overall the knife's length is 8.25" weighs in at 4.1 oz. The blade itself is 3.25" long, and the edge is shaped for skinning. The blade is shaped into a gut hook allowing quick "zippering" of the fish, birds, or other small to medium-sized game without puncturing the internals. The rest of the dorsal part of the blade is clean, wide, and flat, allowing you to apply pressure with your thumb or forefinger as required when cutting/skinning. The tang of the knife drops to offer a finger guard, and then is shaped to deliver a sure-gripping handle with grooves for your first two fingers. The finger grooves and back of the handle are serrated with the teeth "blocked" off to supply a sure grip without cutting the user. Pearwood grips are attached to both sides of the handle with rounded-top allen screws to give some width and comfort to the handle. The pearwood, coupled with the grey powder coat/bead blast of the blade looks attractive.

Conclusion
In conclusion the Gerber Freeman Knife does have some flaws to it regards to the handle to the knife and some workings of the knife blade. All in all however it is great knife to have in the field with you because it is sturdy, easy to maintain and comes with a gut hook for after the game has been hunted. There are a few Freeman models to choose from inclusing gut hook, fixed blade, folding blade, and even an interchangable blade.
